This work was commissioned by the Gion Festival Hoshakaboko Preservation Society (Kyoto City). The design is by Zeshin Shibata, who selected flowers and plants associated with the Hoshage-Hoko from the magnificent "katenai" ceiling in the Chigusa-no-Ma room of the Meiji Palace, woven in spunbond technique, and created a gorgeous design.
